Purification and properties of bovine synovial fluid alkaline phosphatase.
Alkaline phosphatase from bovine synovial fluid was purified 2300-fold. A molecular weight of 72,300 was determined from sucrose density gradient studies. The following monoesters were hydrolyzed by the enzyme: P-glycerophosphate, galactosamine 6-phosphate, glucosamice 6-phosphate, glucose 6-phosphate, o-phospho-L-serine, o-carboxyphenyl phosphate, phenyl phosphate, and p-nitrophenyl phosphate....
متن کاملExercise and Injury Result in Increased Synovial Fluid and Decreased Serum Bone Alkaline Phosphatase Concentrations
+*Trumble, TN; *Brown, MP; *Merritt, KA +*University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida [email protected] INTRODUCTION Bone undergoes reformation in response to the demands placed on it during exercise (modeling) and injury (remodeling). Bone alkaline phosphatase (BAP) is an early osteoblastic activity biomarker that has been identified in serum from humans with osteoporosis as well as...
متن کاملBone Alkaline Phosphatase in Synovial Fluid Is Correlated to Radiographic Osteophyticchanges in a Canine Cranial Cruciate Transection Model of Osteoarthritis
INTRODUCTION: Osteoarthritis (OA) is considered to be a complex disease process that involves all components of the joint environment: cartilage, synovium, and subchondral bone. When there is joint injury, such as cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture in dogs or humans, there are abnormal biomechanical stresses placed on the entire joint. Invariably, this leads to loss of the articular cartil...
متن کاملAcid and alkaline phosphatase activity in bone-cyst fluid.
The acid and alkaline phosphatase activity in fluid aspirated from solitary bone cysts in six patients was measured, and large increases in the concentration of acid phosphatase were found. In some cases this increase was reflected in venous blood concentrations. The significance of these findings for the pathogenesis and the management of solitary bone cyst is discussed.
متن کاملComparison of Alkaline phosphatase, Lactate Dehydrogenase and Acid Phosphatase Levels in Serum and Synovial Fluid between Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis
Introduction: Pain and swelling in joints is a fundamental feature of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA),it is a chronic multisystem disease of unknown cause. Osteoarthritis (OA) has been characterized by progressive articular cartilage loss and osteophyte formation. Objective: Thisstudy was undertaken to evaluate whether it is possible to distinguish OA from RA by comparing LDH, ALP, Uric Acid and ACP ...
